There is also information about the corporate antivirus software offered by the ITC Service, general information on viruses and how to protect yourself from them. Support for non-corporate antivirus products or non-University personnel will not be provided.

It is essential for the security of your PC that you have antivirus software. For your home computer, the University has a licence for the Trend Micro Internet Security antivirus, for Windows 7 PCs you can install Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows 8 or Windows 10 PCs come with pre-installed Windows Defender.

Installing the antivirus software

It is important to uninstall any antivirus software before installation. Concerns relating to antivirus issues are managed by the Microcomputing Area of the ITC Service. For all antivirus support issues, contact them at http://cau.ual.es.

The antivirus software is updated automatically. In terms of UAL PCs, Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows 7) and Windows Defender (preinstalled in Windows 8 and 10) antivirus software is updated at the same time as the operating system. The PC must be restored and rebooted with DeepFreeze software and left switched on and connected to the network overnight at least once a week.

Trend Micro Internet Security

Trend Micro Internet Security for your home computer (Teaching & Research staff and Administrative staff and Service personnel only). All versions are supported by the Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 operating systems. Remember that it is illegal to install this antivirus software on University PCs:
