PhD Program in Sciences Applied to the Environment

The PhD Program in Sciences Applied to the Environment at the University of Almería is to train highly qualified doctors in research and innovation aimed at solving sustainability problems, among the greatest current challenges in modern societies.

The increased impact of human activities on the planet is causing the loss of the natural capital that supports our well-being and future possibilities for development.

In this context, the scientific and academic community considers it essential to train young researchers with an interdisciplinary perspective, who have the appropriate knowledge and skills to generate knowledge in the sustainability field.

Accordingly, the proposal integrates aspects such as the monitoring of global change, the management of biodiversity and ecosystem services, the analysis and monitoring of water and carbon cycles, the bioeconomy and application of ecological technologies, ecohydrology and water resources, and environmental geology and seismology.

Through these studies, we seek to train people who want to develop a research career as well as those who want to contribute to the development of sustainable environmental policies in the framework of administration, business and industry.
