Structure of the Degree

The Master's is organised in 2 semesters, each one has 30 ECTS. In the first semester, 3 modules of compulsory subjects will be taught: Methodology of Qualitative Research in Physiotherapy (3 ECTS), Methodology of Quantitative Research in Physiotherapy. Statistical Data Analysis (9 ECTS), Manipulative Therapy (12 ECTS) and Adult Neurology (6 ECTS).

Three compulsory modules will be taught in the second semester: Clinical Posturology (6 ECTS); Physioesthetics and General Electrotherapy Procedures (3 ECTS); Pediatric Neurology (9 ECTS); One module with two elective subjects (Myofascial Dry Needling. Homoeopathy - 3CTS; Pelvic Floor Dysfunction – 3 ECTS), and Master's Thesis (9 ECTS).

In the compulsory subjects modules, students will learn about the latest research studies being developed in neurology, physioesthetics-general electrotherapy procedures, and manual therapy.

In the elective module, they will acquire skills on the alternative and complementary therapies that are being developed in pelvic floor dysfunctions, myofascial dry needling and homoeopathy; they will also know the current lines of research that are being carried out in these complementary therapies. In this compulsory training, students must take the Research Methodology subject, which provides them with the necessary knowledge to deal with the development of the Master’s Thesis. Students will join the lines of research proposed, and may develop two types of Master’s Thesis, clinical trial or bibliographic review or meta-analysis. The Master’s Thesis will be carried out individually. Students will be assigned a tutor from among the professors of the master's degree, in accordance with the line of research chosen by the student.

Students will present their Master's Thesis with the prior approval of their tutor. The coordinators of the Master's Thesis shall make an assessment of the same, which shall mean 60 % of the final mark of this subject. Finally, students will have to defend their master's thesis in public in front of a board of examiners that will be made up of at least 3 University Master's Professors. The assessment and defence panels shall mark the student, which shall mean a 40% of the final mark.
