Structure of the Degree

The proposed Master's Degree is organised in 2 semesters, each one has 30 ECTS.

The Master’s in Sustainable Local Development and Co-development aims training students to develop their professional activity as well as providing them with the tools necessary to carry out research works. In any event, the planned activities mean a total of 60 ECTS credits.

The Master's consists of a compulsory Core Module with 30 ECTS credits (Module 1), which comprises the conceptual basic aspects of local development, sustainable development, co-development, the preparation and management of development projects and research methodology.

Students must then take a total of 24 ECTS credits for elective subjects, which are grouped into two modules:

  • The first module has been called the elective pathway (Module 2) and it comprises the subjects that guide the training received towards the professional or researcher fields; in this module students must take a total of 9 credits by choosing the specific subject proposed for each of the pathways. Nothing prevents anyone from enrolling in all the subjects proposed in this module, completing the 24 elective training credits with other subjects chosen from the general elective subjects (Module 3).

  • From the second of the elective modules (Module 3), called general elective, students must take 15 ECTS credits by choosing among the proposed subjects.

Finally, a Master's Thesis (Module 4), consisting of a research project, must be carried out and supervised by the Master’s professors (6 ECTS).
