Important:
The Master's Degree in Legal Practice at the University of Almeria is designed entirely to give training and access to the legal profession as regulated by Law 34/2006, of 30 October, and its Regulations approved by Royal Decree 775/2011, of 3 June.
Suggested profile for newly enrolled students
The entry profile is specifically established by state regulations. Thus, the Regulations of Law 34/2006, of 30 October, on access to the professions of lawyer and prosecutor of the courts (approved by Royal Decree 775/2011, of 3 June, BOE No. 143 of 16 June 2011, p.61762), states in Article 2 that, among the requirements required for obtaining the professional title of lawyer, “a) one must be in possession of the Degree in Law or another equivalent university degree that meets the requirements set out in Article 3 of these Regulations”. This refers to the specific competencies that the graduate must have acquired.
Consequently, as an entry profile, anyone who is a graduate in Law, or equivalent, that accredits the acquisition of the following legal competencies, may have access to the Master's Degree:
- a) to know and understand the elements, structure, resources, interpretation and application of the legal system and the interpretation of the basic legal sources and concepts of each of the different legal orders.
- (b) to know and understand the mechanisms and procedures for resolving legal conflicts as well as the legal position of individuals in their relation to the Administration and to public authorities in general.
- (c) to know and understand how to apply the preferential criteria of the sources determining the applicable rules in each case, in particular, conformity with constitutional rules, principles and values.
- d) to interpret legal texts from an interdisciplinary perspective using legal principles, and social, ethical and deontological values and precepts as tools for analysis.
- e) to articulate using a convincing legal argument on a theoretical question concerning the various legal matters.
- f) to resolve practical cases in accordance with the existing law, involving the prior preparation of material, identifying problematic issues, selecting and interpreting the applicable law data and the explanatory statement of the subsection.
- g) to handle the legal language and terminology of the different branches of law with skill and precision: To draft legal documents in an orderly and comprehensible manner. To communicate oral and written ideas, arguments and legal reasoning using appropriate registers in each context.
- H) to use information and communication technologies to search for and retrieve legal information (databases of legislation, jurisprudence, bibliographies, etc.) as well as work and communication tools.
In the event that applications exceed the number of places offered, priority shall be given to law graduates (whether 3-year or 4 to 5-year) and, among these, to those in possession of a qualification which does not permit registration in accordance with Law 34/2006, giving access to the professions of Lawyer and Prosecutor of the Courts. If the demand still exceeds the number of places offered, the selection criteria for student admission will be based on the score awarded in the personal academic record obtained in the Degree. In this case, the Master's Academic Committee shall publish in good time the list of those admitted and excluded.
