Structure of the Degree

  • Module 1: BASIC TRAINING.
  • Module 2: SOCIETY AND THOUGHT.
  • Module 3: ADVANCED GEOGRAPHY.
  • Module 4: HISTORY OF SPAIN.
  • Module 5: WORLD HISTORY.
  • Module 6: HISTORIOGRAPHIC TRENDS.
  • Module 7: DEGREE CONTEXTS, PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENTS AND UNDERGRADUATE DISSERTATION.

Time planning chart of the modules:

  • BASIC TRAINING (60 ECTS).

Basic Training (60 ECTS) is taught between the first and second year and, once it is completed, allows enroling in other Degree included in the Arts and Humanities Branch (currently, English Studies, History and Humanities). A second language (12 ECTS) must be offered to be developed in the core training in compliance with an Andalusian agreement.

  • BASIC TRAINING (162 ECTS).

It is a requirement in the Andalusian Autonomous Region that the Degree in History has the technical-methodological Modules of World History and History of Spain. In addition to this, the University of Almería has also implemented the following modules: History of Art, Geography, Anthropology and Philosophy.

  • DEGREE CONTEXTS, PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENTS AND UNDERGRADUATE DISSERTATION (18 ECTS).

Overall, it composes a 18 ECTS cycle in which the elective courses, the work placement (or an alternative course) and the undergraduate dissertation must be taken.

4th year compulsory
Compulsory Courses
4th year students must take one of the two following compulsory courses:
  • Contemporary Migration Anthropology or
  • Social Anthropology.

They will have to choose one of the two following compulsory courses:
  • Current Philosophical Debates, or
  • Contemporary Culture Aesthetics.

4th year elective courses
Elective Courses
4th year students must take 6 elective credits (1 course), and they may choose among the four elective courses offered:
  • Cinema, Society and Culture,
  • Democracy in Western World: Building Processes,
  • Women and Social Inequality, or
  • Peace, Human Rights and Universal Citizenship.
