The Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering gives graduates the appropriate training to cover agricultural issues from various fields of knowledge.

These professionals must have knowledge about the theoretical and practical aspects of Agricultural Engineering, to apply them to the design, planning and management of horticultural enterprises, agricultural production, engineering applicable to the rural environment, agricultural activities, as well as to analysis, design of processing plants and food conservation.

Suggested profile for newly enrolled students

Even though there are no prerequisites for accessing the Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, in the absence of further regulatory developments, it is desirable that the student has prior training that facilitates the acquisition of knowledge, competencies and skills associated with this degree.

For entry into the Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, it is recommended that the student's training profile be scientific-technological in nature, both in terms of upper secondary education and higher vocational training programmes. Within this profile, it is advisable to have basic training in mathematics and physics, as well as knowledge of computer tools at the user level, with an Upper Secondary Education level qualification or equivalent.

If coming from Higher-Level Vocational Training Programmes, it is recommended that the student has completed a course in the agricultural area.

In terms of skills and abilities, it is recommended that students have:

  1. The ability to analyse and synthesise a large amount of information.
  2. Aptitude for numerical and logical reasoning.
  3. Have ease of abstraction and imagination when dealing with problems.

In addition to the technical and training aspects mentioned above, at the personal level, it is recommended that students have the following attitudes:

  1. Desire for innovation.
  2. Being responsive and practical when carrying out activities.
  3. A responsible attitude to work, and teamwork skills.
