Apply for an ERC Grant


The European Research Council (ERC) supports pioneering frontier research across all scientific
disciplines. At the University of Almería (UAL), we welcome outstanding researchers from any
country who wish to apply for ERC Starting, Consolidator, or Advanced Grants, with the
University of Almería acting as host institution.

ERC at University of Almería.

  1. Priority access to laboratories, facilities and research infrastructure, in accordance with the needs of the ERC project.
  2. A positive outcome of the scientific and performance evaluations at the end of the ERC project will allow the researcher to be considered for long‑term incorporation at the University of Almería, in accordance with applicable regulations and the university’s human resources planning.
  3. For UAL members, a significant reduction of teaching duties, equivalent to a senior-level academic management responsibility (vice-chancellor), during the duration of the ERC project. 
  4. For external researchers relocating to the University of Almería as ERC host institution, temporary accommodation at the University Residence may be offered for up to four months, to facilitate relocation while permanent housing is arranged, subject to availability and applicable conditions. Additionally, one of the following options may be offered, depending on the profile and needs of the project: 
  5. A postdoctoral contract of up to three years linked to the ERC project, with salary conditions equivalent to those included in the University of Almeria´s Programme for Research and Knowledge Transfer.
  6. Two predoctoral contracts of up to four years linked to the ERC project, with salary conditions equivalent to those of the Spanish FPI (Formación de Personal Investigador) programme.
