ABSTRACT

The main objective of the LIFE-ACCLIMATE project is to implement and demonstrate a sustainable and resource-efficient greenhouse horticulture model as a climate change adaptation strategy, leveraging the use of advanced technologies such as ground and aerial robots, artificial intelligence (AI) and Decision support systems (DSS). The project aims to demonstrate the benefits of this model for crop yield, resource use efficiency, pests and diseases management based on eco-friendly and sustainable strategies and greenhouse gas emissions reduction, while also raising awareness among farmers and stakeholders about EU policies and legislation related to climate change adaptation in the agricultural sector.

LIFE-ACCLIMATE will demonstrate how a solution integrated by a ground and air Robotic platform, AI algorithms and a Decision Support System for greenhouse smart and sustainable management deployed in 2 geographical locations(3 different demonstrator greenhouses) can enable efficient, sustainable, and smart operations in greenhouses. The technologies in LIFE-ACCLIMATE will tackle climate change adaptation and resource optimisation reducing the environmental footprint of intensive agriculture towards Green Deal objectives.
