Abstract
Commercial
components (COTS) is being used more and more in Component-Based
Software Engineering for building software applications, and
accordingly, some mechanisms are demanded by developers of software
applications to describe, search, select and compose COTS components.
Currently, a unified criteria for the specification of COTS components
neither for the specification of software architectures based on this
kind of components is not defined. Besides, current trading services do
not support processes based on commercial components. In this paper we
develop a case study on building a COTS-based application using a
trading service for COTS components. This case study covers three
aspects: (a) the description of the software architecture using UML-RT,
(b) a model for the specification of COTS components and (c) a trading
process for COTS components.
